P. tampanensis spore prints. 2023 cultivated collection. Photo credits to Scott Ostuni. A classic, with a funny discovery story if you havn't heard. Something about a couple mycologists ditching a conference to actually do mycology things, stumbling upon an undescribed mushroom, cloning it in an RV, and distributing the strain far and wide. P. tampanensis is prized for its sclerotia production, commonly refered to as magic truffles. Most all truffles in headshops in Amsterdam are strains of P. tampanensis. Potency of the fruit bodies and sclerotia can vary from mild to potent.
